often we tend to worry about things we cant change or do anything about...i guess we just have to let them be and trust HIM...
somewhere we do know we need 'him' (the one up there), believe in 'him' and have faith...no matter how angry or irritated we are...somewhere we can never give up on 'him'...and that is another universal truth of life...:)
maybe he has something planned for all of us...maybe he hasent...but thats not for us to worry about...cos as they say 'HE knows it best' :)
sometimes u gotta stop looking for answers and just wait till they find u themselves...

take care
and keep the faith! :)

'sometimes u gotta stop looking for answers and just wait till they find u themselves..' .. may b yes .. but I guess its kind of harder to ignore it this ways ..

but may b sometimes for the peace we do need to just shun down all that in on our mind ..be it for a few mins .. n its gives u such sound peace .. tht for a moment u feel u have nothing to wrry abt ..

why dont u do some research n all .. n come out wid a happy drug :D ..

hey this is nice... somehow i dunno how to react... may be i blv too much into taking matters into my own hands to blv.. or may be my funda is:

@ anuj
well u mean meditation??
ive heard from a few others too tht it gives a lot of answers...
i dunno...havent really tried it yet...maybe its true!... i kinda believe its all within u and meditation is no magic...it just helps u get those answers from within...because thts the time u concentrate best...
so ultimately u have the answers ...jus tht u probably too busy to notice them...
but what about the answers u know u dont have and yet are trying to search???
'happy drug'??...hmm good idea :D...maybe someday i will..*winks*

belief on god is that carries me along...& along...

it's tough for many to live without the driving force that faith is...

Anonymous said...

My two paise worth...

I think wildflower just about nailed it right with 'it's tough for many to live without the driving force that faith is...'

this works fine as long as that faith is unflinching and blind(which is kind of why the 'jehadi' fundamentalist(and no I am not referring only to the Islamic..there are enough jehadis of all religions out there)

But when questions like the 'angry believer post' come up..with difficulties in reconciling the grief we see in and around us...and how it could be inflicted by the loving benevolent father(I would have preferred a mother) of us all, thats when the cracks start to appear. This BTW is just one of the questions, the other being is it all destiny chosen by someone else..or is it my actions..or combination of both and all kinds of varied philosophies.

These questions though are then embalmed with a patchwork of the sort I see in this post(hey am i flaming:), sorry if that sounds rude) with questions best left unanswered and he knows best..and I will believe no matter what...which I believe arises out of 'the toughness to live without a driving force'...so conjure up a driving force that u dont question..

as for me I just dont know, I mean the earth itself has existed for 4.5 thousand million years(and the universe much longer) and i am just a existnce at the fag splinter end of it..so its hard for me to harbor such a self-centred approach where any external entity really cares about my well being or of my loved ones..with a billion billion bacteria floating about probably hoping for the same entity to do something for their well being(I dont see why we humans should get preferential treatment with this 'benevelont entity')

the god might just be the rules of the game(how DNA molecules can pair, how nuclei are formed, or ultimately how is conciousness(life) created), but other than that I dont think God intervenes in any other manner.

have to leave it at this at the moment..would like to see what you guys have to say to this...

naah naah naah .. I wasnt talkin abt meditation .. it kind of freaks me out .. I mean alright its gud if u sit all by urself in silence n jus try to concentrate or stay calm .. bt wht d heck is this concept of takin names n 'holy' lines n all tht crap ..

we used to these ISCON ppl come to our college n inspite of preachin peace n all .. thy wud tell us to shun all our humanly (even manly) desires .. n jus do 'hare krishna hare ram' .. i mean initially it was ohk .. bt thn it looked all phony ..

so wht i meant here was like ..sometimes ur too tired of life n thinkin n for a few moments u jus think tht nothin matters .. n u jus close ur eyes n try to relaz .. u try to get rid of all those contradicting thoughts ..

ofcourse we might evn look fr ans to questions tht dont evn exist n d ones tht r meaningless .. bt I guess if life was without confusion n mistakes .. it wudnt have made sense .. n thn all wud have been gud .. n there wud have been no doctors .. hehehe :D

I think yoga can b cool ;)
but d ans tht one is lookin can be found u knw .. sometimes I feel that whn I read books (novels I mean) .. cause it so happens tht u have had d similar feelings bt it was nevr said EXPLICITLY .. nd now its in frnt of u .. n ur confronted of ur feelings .. so I guess knowledge is the unltimate aim :D .. hehe ..

bahut ho gaya I guess .. I wont pakao u much ... **wink**

hugzz :)

@ elpatitofeo
lol...i seriously think this is a case of mistaken identity here ...(not speaking bout the 'angel' status uve assigned to me...i dont deny being one...thankoo thankoo *grins and takes a bow*)
just kidding...
but i dont think i know u and neither do u know me (if im not mistaken)...and u dont need to be sorry for anythin precisely because i dont have the slightest clue asto wht u r speakin about...haha
take care!

@ wildflower
i totally agree...its tough to let go of the 'faith' u have within u...:)

Pri said...

@ the angry agnostic
hmm i do kinda agree with a part of what u claim or as wildflower rightfully said---its tough to let go of the faith within u...
i still think its 'to each his own' and it entirely depends on the way u look at it...but there are times when ur disbelief in miracles is just proved wrong and this im not saying only on the basis of 'hear say'...:)
i agree tht there is a big doubt looming high over concepts like 'destiny' and 'fate' and whether u woulod like to believe in tht or not is again entirely upto u...but jus one question here...
u said in ur comment:
***the god might just be the rules of the game(how DNA molecules can pair, how nuclei are formed, or ultimately how is conciousness(life) created), but other than that I dont think God intervenes in any other manner***
if thts wht u think and believe (or like to believe), on what basis do u say tht he started the game...DNA molecules being paired, nuclei being formed all have a scientific explanation...yet u choose to hold god responsible for the rules...and claim him to be the creator and then forget all about his creation???
hmmm im confused...u dont think very highly of him do u?
but neither have u stopped believing in his existence because as u said --he sets the rules...wch per se are the most responsible...:)
dont mean to sound rude but it seems to me tht ur one of the ppl who would like to take charge of life and believe u r solely responsible of wht its turned out to be...perhaps thats pretty strong thinking uve got...or maybe just maybe u havent snapped out of a phase yet...
but a lotta people out here need HIM or the driving force we have conjured in him (as u say) to guide us thru the thick and thin...and believe tht he wouldent jus abandon us after setting the rules...
it gives us a new perspective towards life and probably makes us stronger and that my friend is the real essence of the entity we call 'GOD' :)

this topic is open to discussion...
would love to hear your views on this conversation betwen the angry agnostic and me as well...
SO GUYS, DO FEEL FREE TO COMMENT :)

@ anuj
well, meditation dosent mean only sitting down and chanting names...
giving time to urself and concentrating on what u r goin thru and chanelling ur thoughts only in the direction of ur choice is also 'meditation'...
Often in the hustle bustle of life , we tend to forget about things wch matter...and thts y they say meditation or even yoga for tht matter help...
u dont need to join any religious groups for tht..as u said, even sitting at home and concentrating with ur eyes closed will do...
i do agree with the 'learning thru books' philosophy...
books according to me open up a vast sea of knowledge..but thn again, depends on the kinda books u go into...
some only help in hyping up ur imagination and maybe takin u on a diff trip altogether...others can make u see things differently altogether...so one has to be careful and know whr to draw the line between fiction and reality ...:)

take care!

God doesn’t exist
Well, this certainly should’ve caught your attn. Now jus take some time to read the story below:

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him. They talked about so many things and various subjects. Suddenly, they touched the subject of GOD.
The barber said: “Look man, I don’t believe that God exists as you say so.” “Why do you say that?” - asked the client. Well, it’s so easy, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God does not exist. Oh, tell me, if God existed, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be no suffering nor pain. I can’t think of a God who permits all of these things.”
The client stopped for a moment thinking but he didn’t want to respond so as to prevent an argument. The barber finished his job and the client went out of the shop. Just after he left the barber shop he saw a man in the street with a long hair and beard (it seems that it had been a long time since he had his cut and he looked so untidy).
Then the client again entered the barber shop and he said to the barber: You know what? Barbers do not exist.” “How come they don’t exist?”-asked the barber. ”Well I am here and I am a barber.” ”No!” - the client exclaimed. ”They don’t exist because if they did here would be no people with long hair and beard like that man who walks in the street.” “Ah, barbers do exist, what happens is that people do not come to me.” ”Exactly!”- affirmed the client. “That’s exactly the point. God does exist, what happens is people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him that’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”
Well, I do respect the views of Angry Agnostic but it doesn’t mean that I should agree. Perceptions Differ. And one can still be stupid and yet sound profound;)
PS: Keep it rollin;)

Hi Pri
I am reading your blog for the first time. (Was introduced to it by Mr.Scribbler)
I love the way you write! Keep writing!!

well seems to be some lively discussion on here:)...well would like to comment in two parts.

'Meditation' to me is something quite different from what you have described pri. To me it is 'deconcentration'(this I have learnt from an Art of Living type course)...where I sit down and let thoughts come and go..the 3 rules being..
1. Dont fight thoughts from coming to mind
2. Dont follow thoughts that come to mind(ex.if thot comes does god exist;), dont immediately follow it up hey that agnostic bloke is such a jerk)
3. Dont create more thoughts(ex. just for the heck of it agnostic bloke is a jerk)

What happens when you are in this calm position and doing these 3 things(at least does happen with me and am told is how its supposed to happen)...the clamor of thoughts that are constantly running helter and skelter in our minds calms down and slowly but surely the flow of thoughts in reduced...the utlimate aim being a state of thoughtlessness..you might not get there but even if you come close..it does give u a nice feeling of peace and calm( gives ur mind a lot of relaxation)...and once you are out of it...then maybe it will aid you in focussing on issues on hand..but the actual period of meditation you are free from the daily worldy issues that affect your life.

Now for the meatier second part:)..well no I am not the sort of a person that either believes or wants to be in control of everything. I am 'agnostic' remember..so I am not the guy with the answers I am the guy that just doesnt know

I am firmly entrenched on the fence(yes it hurts)..waiting to be convinced by either side..but so far none of the arguments seem convincing to me.

Honestly I do really envy a lot of believers(am addressing them rather than the atheists since that seems the overwhelming majority around here) that they can have the unmoving faith that helps them get through life terrific for them. Just that I have been unable to have that unmoving beliefs as questions keep coming to me and that negates any benefits I may gain from the belief itself. I am aware of the argument that you gotta submit to HIM and then he will reveal urself to you(kinda the barber argument...but here too I envy the people who can actually manage to carry out that submission, I havent..it somehow doesnt seem all that different from the mollahs promising heaven if u just submit to jehad, ok thats probably a stretch but I hope u get what I mean)

And one clarification pri, I did not say God created the rules of the game..i said the God IS the rules of the game..just those constants that determine how strong gravity is(G) or the crystalline structure of molecules...that is GOD..for they set the whole process off and then it runs by itself..again I am the lame agnostic here so everything is prefixed with a maybe..but then this is the God that seems more likely to me than the more common view of a 'human-like sensitive partial-to-humans' kind of a god that at his pious best helps people pass their exams and makes sure trains get to destinations on time...and at his zealous best ensures world peace and well being of certain countries and communities over others...

even going by the more spiritual view of 'god' the force which gives us strength to carry through life..which is the pillar that supports us through thick and thin...I have to stick with the 'conjured up' image of 'god'..where the need comes first and god is added later to cater to the need(the way barbers exist because people felt a need to have their hair cut)..

ok I know I am just being critical of all the views out there..but that is my personal tragedy at not having found any satisfatory answers anywhere and being in this 'just dont know category'

@ the angry agnostic
firstly , thanks for the in-depth meaning of 'meditation' on behalf of anuj and me...
as for the second part,i understand what u r trying to say...
but from all ive learnt in life, i'l just say tht u got to stop waiting for someone to convince u...i for one wouldent try to cos i think we often believe only what we want to believe...
u are as confused or clearminded as u want to be...and nobody but u can do anything about it...

To what uve said, like someone had penned down in my diary once--'i have nothing to say'...
somethings u just know...(i know u must be aware by now of wht im speaking about)
